About Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal, or the Palace of Winds, is an iconic pink sandstone palace in Jaipur built in 1799. Its five-story facade with 953 small jharokha windows was designed to allow royal women to observe street festivals without being seen, a masterpiece of Rajput architecture.

Travel Tips

Best viewed in the morning when the sun hits the pink sandstone. The interior is narrow and steep. Combine with City Palace and Jantar Mantar. Visit the rooftop cafe opposite for great photos.
